Feature: sources

See which sources the AI builds its answers on

ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude base their answers on pages from the web and cite them as sources. appariq.ai stores all of these URLs for every answer. You see whether your own website is among them, which third-party pages set the tone and where you can make a difference.

Three things you see for every answer

Every cited URL

Every source with its full address, not just the domain. You see exactly which subpage the AI cites.

Your website as a source

Whether the answer cites and links your own website. Across all questions you see how often that happens.

Answer and sources side by side

The full answer text sits next to its sources, so you can check statements against where they came from.

From practice

How many sources sit behind AI answers

150 questions from a large organization, asked to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude with appariq in September 2026:

Share of answers citing it

ChatGPT
92%
Gemini
84%
Claude
68%
58% of the source citations pointed to the organization's own website. The remaining 42% were spread across around 230 third-party domains: advice portals, insurers, law firms, news sites, Wikipedia and providers competing with the organization. A mention shows whether you appear. Sources show why.

Use cases

What you can do with the sources

Improve your own pages

You see which of your pages the AI cites and for which questions it takes other pages instead. That is where revising pays off: clear answers, current information, structured data.

Maintain third-party sources

Comparison portals, trade media and directories shape many answers. If they show outdated or wrong information about you, ask the operators to correct it. And when you book articles or listings, choose pages the AI actually cites.

Understand your competitors

For questions where competitors rank ahead of you, the sources show which pages put them there.

Find the source of errors

If an answer is wrong, the sources show whether the error comes from a third-party page or your own.

AI fact check

How it works

Three steps to your sources

  1. Add questions and brand

Add your questions, your brand with all spellings, your website and your competitors.

  2. Automatic checks

appariq regularly asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude your questions and stores every answer with all its sources.

  3. View, share, analyze

View sources in the dashboard, share them as a PDF report or export them as CSV and analyze them, for example by domain.

Frequently asked questions about sources

Where do the sources come from?

Are the sources included in the export?

Yes, in every plan, together with the full answer text and all other data points.

Can I see which sources help my competitors?

Rather have the sources analyzed for you?

Rheinwunder sets up appariq for you, evaluates the sources and tells you which pages are worth working on.
